What is a CAL?
CAL is a Client Access License. This is a license that gives a named user
the right to access the software from multiple computers.
What is the difference between Open Business and Open
Value?
The primary difference is the amount of Software Assurance that is included with
your software purchase. Open Business includes two years of software
assurance and Open Value includes three years of software assurance. Open
Value also includes shipment of physical media (disks) as well as the download
software. Open Business software is typically downloaded, but disks can be
ordered for a small additional charge (typically $35.00).
OK, so what is Software
Assurance?
We thought you might ask that. Software Assurance (SA) protects your
software investment by giving you upgrade rights and a specific amount of
Microsoft Technical Support as long as your SA is current. For example,
when you purchase the above CRM 4.0 licenses, you will be eligible to receive
the next CRM software release, CRM 2011, when it is made available in January at
no cost. You also have the opportunity to contact Microsoft Technical
support for up to 5 cases per year. In the future, you can purchase
additional software assurance before your assurance expires to continue to
retain the benefits.
